Paalak Paneer

What is unique about Paalak Paneera

This melt in the mouth recipe is made by blending the flavours of puréed spinach gravy with cottage cheese cubes ,fresh cream , cumin and curry leaves giving this gravy an overall rich , creamy taste and texture

Ingredient for Paalak Paneera

Cottage cheese (Paneer )- 150 gms, diced into small/medium-sized cubes
Spinach ( Palak) leaves – 500 gms, washed
Green Chillies – 2, slit into half

Vegetable Oil – 3 tablespoons
Curry leaves – 6-7
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon

Turmeric- 1/2 a teaspoon
Salt to taste
Chillie powder – 1 teaspoon
Single cream – around 150 mls

Method to cook Paalak Paneer

Boil the washed spinach leaves and drain off the excess water into a sink by using a colander 

Blanch the boiled and drained leaves under cold running water and blend the spinach along with green chillies in a blender to a smooth purée 

In a separate medium pan heat, the oil and as the oil starts to heat, reduce the flame and add the cumin and curry leaves to temper the oil 

When the cumin and curry leaves begin to crackle, add the prepared spinach purée, turmeric, salt, chilli powder and give the ingredients a good mix 

Add in the diced panned cubes and 1/2 a cup of water and leave this gravy to simmer on low flame for 15-20 minutes 

Cover the pan with a lid and keep mixing the gravy occasionally
After the stipulated period of time, uncover the lid and add the cream. LeavevtgevgrVy to cook over low flame for another 5-7 minutes until the oil starts to surface 

Switch off the flame and serve the Palak paneer garnishing it with a swirl of cream on the top

Enjoy this delicious paneer gravy with naan, poori, Bhagara rice or flavoured rice
