Method

We start to prepare this dish by marinating the fish fillets. For this, take a bowl and add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of ginger- garlic paste, salt to taste and 1 teaspoon of chili powder and 1 teaspoon of oil and mix well to coat the
fillets
Set the fillets aside for 1/2 – 1 hour after which we would deep fry the fillets in a Kadai on medium heat or deep bottomed pan. Keeping the fried fillets aside, we would now begin preparing the gravy
For the base, take a medium-sized cooking pan and add the oil left after frying the fish
Let the pan heat over medium flame and when the oil starts to heat reduce the flame and add the whole garam masalas one by one as listed above
Now, to the garam masalas add the chopped onions and fry till they get lightly browned
To the fried onions, add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of ginger -garlic paste, salt to taste and 2 teaspoons of chili powder and mix well and lower the flame
Now add the beaten yogurt to the above mixture and stir continuously to prevent the yogurt from forming lumps
Keep mixing continuously till the texture of the gravy is of uniform consistency. Now add the dhania powder and garam masala powder and mix well
Once the gravy starts to simmer we would add the fried fish fillets and continue to further let the gravy simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes
Add the freshly chopped coriander and switch off the flame
The Macchi ka Khorma is ready to be served and would be a great combination with roti or flavored yellow rice
